We all know how much I love breakfast, so I'm not going to bore you with my thesis on weekend breakfast making. It's not like you haven't heard it before. What I will say is this - I love having sweets for breakfast. Whether it's pancakes or French toast or waffles, I typically make sweet dishes over savory. But that's the sweet tooth in me taking over. She really likes sweet treats.

These Dark Chocolate Waffles with Cherry Syrup are hands down my favorite waffles at the moment. I mean, who wouldn't love chocolate for breakfast? It's like you're eating dessert for breakfast, and that is perfectly acceptable to me. Don't you agree?

Strawberry Rhubarb Pie #SundaySupper

This classic Strawberry Rhubarb Pie is the perfect summer dessert for any picnic or gathering.
The combination of sweet strawberries and tart rhubarb just can't be beat!
My Dad's favorite dessert has been Strawberry Rhubarb Pie for as long as I can remember. My grandma grew rhubarb in her backyard and honestly I never liked it as a kid. It looked different and when she had me taste it a few times, I thought it was very sour. As with many foods that I disliked as a child, little did I know that one day I would end up falling in love with rhubarb!

Since Father's Day is right around the corner, I decided to surprise my dad with a homemade strawberry rhubarb pie. I actually had to look up how to buy and clean rhubarb since I'd never worked with it before! Surprisingly enough it was quite easy, and my pie turned out perfectly.

Dad's Favorite Recipe #SundaySupper Preview

This week #SundaySupper is celebrating the Dads in our lives!
In honor of Father's Day, which is right around the corner, our #SundaySupper Tastemakers are sharing Dad's Favorite Recipes.

My dad's favorite dessert is Strawberry Rhubarb Pie. My grandma used to make it all the time using fresh rhubarb from her garden. I had never made it before, but decided to give it a try a few weeks ago and surprise my daddy.

Blueberry Slab Pie #SundaySupper

This super simple Blueberry Slab Pie is the perfect dessert to feed a crowd. Grab a fork and lets dig in!

Warm weather has finally arrived in Michigan and it feels like summer. Although it's not technically summer yet, Memorial Day is the kick off to the season in my house. Now starts the BBQ's, potlucks, pool parties and family reunions. Some of my favorite summer events.

With those parties comes food, which means we're usually bringing a dish along with us when we visit family and friends. There are so many delicious dishes to bring, but of course I love to bring dessert. And this simple Blueberry Slab Pie is my new favorite.

Grilled Pineapple with Vanilla Sorbet #SundaySupper

This simple grilled pineapple with homemade vanilla sorbet is not only delicious, but it's light and refreshing, too.
With just a few easy ingredients, you can impress your family and friends with this dessert all summer long!

I don't know about you, but I've been grilling up a storm lately! My grill has been getting a great workout. From lots of burgers to steaks and chicken, I've been enjoying the beautiful spring weather and the opportunity to be outside on my deck. Grilling is my go-to cooking method in the summer because it's so darn easy. You can grill your proteins, veggies, and even desserts, which means less clean up in the kitchen! I don't know about you, but I'm all for that.

Speaking of desserts, have you grilled dessert before? There are actually many options, but one of the easiest for me is grilling fruit. I especially love grilling pineapple, as it brings out the sweetness and juiciness of the fruit. And those grill marks? Those are the most beautiful things I've ever seen on a piece of fruit. Simply stunning.

Spicy Fudge Brownies #SundaySupper

Sweet and spicy is the ultimate combination. These thick and fudgy brownies are spiced up with
cinnamon and chipotle powder, which gives them the perfect little kick!

Everyone knows I love my sweets. Especially chocolate. Chocolate cake, chocolate chip cookies, brownies...I definitely don't discriminate. Something else I like is spicy foods. Not "my lips and mouth are burning" type of spicy, but a little bit of spice. A nice little kick.

This week our #SundaySupper theme is "Spice is Nice and Some Like it Hot," and I couldn't wait to make something sweet and spicy. My first thought was to make a spicy sweet grilled chicken since grilling season is here, but then I decided to make a dessert. With chocolate of course. And then these beautiful Spicy Fudge Brownies were born.

Spice is Nice and Some Like it Hot! A #SundaySupper Preview

Join the Sunday Supper TasteMakers this Sunday for a huge collection of hot and spicy recipes!

Are you a lover of spices? Do you like hot and spicy foods? Or are you more of a mild fan? I would say I'm just about right in the middle. Maybe edging a little closer to the mild side rather than the hot. I do like foods with a "kick," but I don't like my lips and mouth to be on fire!

I actually love the combination of sweet and spicy. Whether I'm eating a bowl of spicy sweet popcorn or sipping on a chai latte, a little heat is a great contrast to the sweet. In fact, my #SundaySupper contribution is Spicy Fudge Brownies. Don't they look simply irresistible? I can't wait to share the recipe with you!

Mama's Favorite Southern Fried Chicken #SundaySupper

This Southern Fried Chicken recipe is my mama's favorite. It's crispy on the outside, extra tender and
juicy on the inside, and full of flavor. It's the perfect dish for any potluck or picnic!

Having family in the South, I've eaten a lot of southern food over the years. My grandma made the best fried catfish and hush puppies, and she canned like a queen. Her bread and butter pickles were to die for! I learned so much about cooking from her, and of course from my mom, too.

My mom's favorite food is definitely chicken. Growing up, I'm pretty sure we had some sort of chicken dish for dinner at least 4-5 times a week. My dad and I would tease her because we'd ask what's for dinner, but we already knew the answer! Don't get me wrong, mom is a fantastic cook. This fried chicken recipe is proof of that!

Meyer Lemon Bars #SundaySupper

Welcome Spring with these bright and delicious Meyer Lemon Bars! They're sweet,
they're tart, and they are the perfect ending to any meal!

I love lemons. And I especially love cooking with lemons. Whether I'm pan frying chicken and making a glorious lemon sauce to go over the top, or making a delicious lemony dessert, lemons are definitely my favorite citrus fruit.  Meyer lemons are even better, as they have a rich lemon flavor, but they are sweeter and not so tart.

These Meyer Lemon Bars have a buttery shortbread crust and are topped with a luscious lemon filling. Dusted with a little powdered sugar {OK, a lot of powdered sugar!}, they’re as beautiful as they are delicious.

Chicken Parmesan Sliders #SundaySupper

These fabulous and fun sliders feature lightly breaded and fried chicken, marinara sauce and melty mozzarella cheese.
They are the perfect alternative to the classic chicken Parmesan dish!

I love making a big dinner for my family on Sunday afternoons. I grew up having Sunday suppers with my parents every weekend. Meatloaf, chicken and dumplings, pot roast, we had all the traditional family dinners. I still like to cook those for my boys, but sometimes it's fun to do something different. Like having our favorite finger foods for dinner!

Panna Cotta with Fresh Berries #SundaySupper

This slightly sweet custard-like pudding has a rich flavor and creamy texture that takes no time at all to prepare.
Topped with fresh berries, it's the perfectly light dessert to top off any meal!
Panna Cotta with Fresh Berries | The Chef Next Door
Panna cotta is a classic Italian dessert made of sweetened cream that's been thickened by gelatin. You can infuse the cream with spices, or even with vanilla or coffee. I first tried panna cotta at a local Italian restaurant several years ago and quickly fell in love. It's creamy texture and delicate taste is the perfect dessert for just about any meal.

This week's #SundaySupper event is all about Family Style Italian Recipes. As soon as I heard this was our theme, I just knew I had to share my recipe for panna cotta. It's simple, can be made ahead of time, and has a gorgeous presentation. It's just the right dessert to serve your family after Sunday Supper, or at your next party!

Chocolate Baklava #SundaySupper

This decadent pastry is made of layers of phyllo dough, toasted walnuts and hazelnuts, and creamy chocolate, and is sweetened with a delicious cinnamon honey syrup. The perfect dessert for any special occasion!

Have you seen the movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding?" I probably didn't watch it until it was about 10 years old {don't ask me why!}, but once I saw it I instantly fell in love. It's sweet. And funny. And definitely romantic. Did I mention funny? I love the family dynamic and how the characters interact.

This weekend just happens to be the premier of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2," and my Sunday Supper friends and I are celebrating by sharing big fat Greek recipes! How fun is that?! I'm super excited to be sharing one of my most favorite Greek recipes with you...BAKLAVA! And not just any baklava, CHOCOLATE baklava!

Dark Chocolate Mousse #SundaySupper

This decadent and creamy chocolate mousse is simple to make and is made with just a few high quality ingredients.
It's one dreamy, chocolaty dessert that will have your family and friends asking for more!

It's no secret that I love chocolate. I would take a piece of really good chocolate or a chocolate dessert at the end of my meal every day if I could. I've been working on my menu for Easter and want to make something really special for dessert. We always have a few choices for desserts on the table, but I wanted something chocolaty and decadent. Chocolate mousse seemed like the perfect choice.

This Dark Chocolate Mousse is much easier to make than you might think. It's take a bit of time to pull it all together, but the steps are not difficult and the results are well worth it.

Apple Browned Butter Tart #SundaySupper

This beautiful tart is filled with delicious Honeycrisp apples and a browned butter custard filling that is simply irresistible!

Although I love to bake, pies have never been my forte. I'm not exactly sure what it is. Maybe I'm intimidated by the whole crust thing. Or just the precision of everything. Whatever the reason is, I seem to gravitate towards baking everything else other than pie!

When I found out the theme for this weeks' Sunday Supper was pie, I knew I had to get in the kitchen and come up with something special. My creation is this Apple Browned Butter Tart. With it's flaky crust, creamy custard filling, and tender apples, it's a dessert you'll want to make again and again!

Quinoa Salad with Apples, Pecans and Dried Cranberries #SundaySupper

This easy, delicious and healthy quinoa salad is full of flavor and makes a great side dish or main dish meal!
Since the start of the new year I've really been focusing on my healthy habit goals. One of those goals was to eat more fruits and vegetables, and another was to eat more whole grains. An easy way for me to fulfill the veggie goal has been eating salads. I LOVE salads, and more often than not I have a side salad with my dinner. Luckily, my kids like salad too, so it's been a great way for us all to up our veggie intake.

I've recently been experimenting with quinoa and recipes to make with it. Quinoa is a wholesome grain that's a great source of fiber and protein. It has a mild taste and a bit of crunch, so it's perfect in many dishes. This Quinoa Salad with Apples, Pecans and Dried Cranberries also has spicy arugula and super flavorful and nutty Gouda cheese in it, and it's quickly become my favorite winter salad.
